Opening Doors to Close the Justice Gap

The Access Project expands the reach of legal services organizations and their community partners by connecting them with large-scale volunteer assistance. We use innovative program design and cloud technology to create meaningful, effective pro bono opportunities for the private bar.

What We're Doing Now

Working with pro bono attorneys, we’re offering clean slate services to hundreds of formerly incarcerated community college students through a partnership with the Rising Scholars Network.

To support the critical work of For the People, we’ve designed a scalable pro bono program to prepare resentencing petitions for long-serving incarcerated Californians under the new AB 2942 sentence reform law.

We’ve built a VOLUNTEER PORTAL to house training materials and analysis apps to give pro bono attorneys the knowledge and tools they need to provide effective client service at times that fit their demanding schedules.

We’re working with OneJusticeLava MaeRestore Oakland, The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, and other legal services leaders to explore new avenues for remote pro bono programs.

Our Mission

The Access Project was founded in 2019 to improve access to high-quality legal services to people of limited means. Through creative use of technology and innovative program design, we leverage the resources and enthusiasm of law firm volunteers to complement and support the work of legal services organizations.
