Live Scan Guide: How To Get Your RAP Sheet
The following instructions will show you how to obtain your RAP sheet independently. A Live Scan is required because it's the only way to get your record from the California Department of Justice.
In order to be eligible to participate in the Rising Scholars Network Clean Slate Program, you must send TAP a copy of your RAP sheet.
1. Check your eligibility for a FREE Live Scan (Fee Waiver)
Navigate to the DOJ's website by tapping the "Click Here" button above. Once you are there, click "Start". See the guidance to the right.
Next, input your information to see if you qualify. You can qualify in two ways:
- Your income meets the requirements
- You receive public assistance and can prove it (identification # for MediCal)
Input your income to see if you are eligible. You do not need to prove your income.

TAP does not cover any costs related to obtaining your RAP sheet. Talk to your college’s Rising Scholars program manager to see if you can get a reimbursement.
